I wrote this to The New York Daily News -- the photo spread is awful and plays to her fantasy and her surgerized looks but it is a lie in my opinion.
To the editors:
I lived in the East Village only to wake up to the neighborhood looking like a bad xerox of midtown and Dubai thanks to Amanda Burden
She pushed the tear down of St Anns from 1847 and the USPS own the air rights but did not notify the State as legally required and to date I worry about safety and environmental concerns for the area supersizing on an old infrastructure and approving a 26 story mega dorm with700 to 900 students
She pushed sky piercing hotels and condos that reflect a history destroyed and a community no longer welcome
She okayed the tear down of the Cooper Union Science building to supersize and lease for a hundred years. The last city planner said no it is a shell game
All this supersizing had little to know affordable housing and the subways at Union Square and Astor where she did not give us zoning protection we asked for are severely rusted and leaking
