Subject: It is the Bowery, not Dubai
Dear Editors:
Prof. Andrew Dolkart, professor of historic preservation at Columbia
University is correct when he points out the importance of landmarking
building that have significant social and cultural issues. This is
the Bowery not Dubai. Further up the street the Cooper Square Hotel
looks like a giant space ship landed and parked illegally. I wish the
9th Precinct could give all this hideous architecture "no parking
tickets" and tow than away.
It looks like greedy community crushing developers want Bowery to
look like Wall Street with maybe a few token buildings to remind us
of what was once here...the history and the community.
