Jim "Mosaic Man" Power's mosaic before Cooper Union kicked it to the curb
Dear Readers: I didn't clear the garbage out of the top of the community 9-1 memorial planter but look closely or click on the iphone photo I took and see the remarkable "drawing" that Jim does with mosaic. Many "posers" cannot draw. Jim Powers can draw beautifully with a pencil and with mosaic. Look at the Manhattan skyline at the base of the planter. It is powerfully rendered.
Cooper Union could have posted their images of Peter Cooper and Pres. Abe Lincoln on any of their vast property holding but they had to kick a poor man's art to the curb, a man that made this 9-11 memorial on the street literally as he endured torrential rain and the harsh conditions of being homeless including being beaten up for just "being".
My photo does not do justice and there are some names of his local patrons collaged in there because they help me to survive and to buy mosaics to collage with.
