From NY1
A city police officer was indicted Friday for allegedly stealing guns from fellow officers and re-selling them.
The Manhattan District Attorney's Office said 31-year-old Officer Nicholas Mina took police-issued guns from other officers' lockers at the 9th Precinct Station House in the East Village and then sold them on the underground market.
The alleged gun sales took place over the last six months and were monitored by undercover police.
The DA says the officer endangered the very public he took an oath to protect.
Mina is charged with conspiracy, criminal sale and possession of a firearm and grand larceny, among other charges.
According to court documents, Mina has been with the NYPD for more than three years.
Police said he is suspended without pay.
Five other people are charged for conspiring with Mina.
