BBC News reports Natalie Portman starring in Darren Aronofsky's psychological thriller, "The Black Swan" opened The Venice Film Festival which is an honor in itself! "The Black Swan" is already creating powerful buzz and is said to be "The Wrestler" of the ballet world.
Darren Aronofsky told BBC News, "The more I looked into the world of ballet, I actually started to see all these similarities to the world of wrestling. They both have these performers that use their bodies in sort of extremely, intense physical ways. Their entire performance is based on intense physicality."
The Black Swan, a companion piece to The Wrestler has been described as "Powerful, gripping and always intriguing, it also features a lead performance from Natalie Portman that elevates her from a substantial leading actress to major star likely to be lifting awards in the near future,"wrote David Gittens in The Telegraph."
